Good afternoon gentlemen. 1pd is getting low. This one has taught me not to sleep on Yellowstone picks.

2pd is an old fashioned. The RR sib rye is a good one for those who don't like really bold ryes. You get more of a bourbon profile, especially compared to rare breed rye. I happen to like both.

Nice! Are the first two WU picks? Interested in your tasting notes/review.

Nah, I’m in DC at Jack Rose.
I do have the WU picks waiting for me when I get back home, so I will get some tasting notes out on those as soon as I open them.
For this flight, the 6 yr bourbon was the star. Red fruits, cinnamon, a bit of raisin. The 8 yr bourbon was wild, first taste was light, almost felt like it was a wheater (they didn’t know the mashbill, but it was 131 proof so doubtful that it was wheat), let it open for 15 minutes and came back to it. This time it was smoky with a bubblegum finish (very unique). The rye was classic, herbal, baking spices, bit of candy sweetness on the finish.

And this is why I love bourbon.

How'd that compare to the Willett rye?
Posted on 5/21/22 at 6:57 pm to dnwsr
Much sweeter, you can tell it’s more of a low rye rye, than Willett, which is typically higher rye content. Sweet candy, caramel, licorice. Not super herbal.

Thanks for the info. I am a big fan of ryes in general and that's one I haven't been able to find or sample yet. The standard Willett rye has been my go to for years. Imo, the regular old Forester rye is good in cocktails, but not comparable to Willett neat. Of course it's also only 60% of the price. I realize the barrel strength sib is a different beast.
