I mainly got this one out of nostalgia. Templeton rye was the first rye I drank neat (circa 2009). They got in trouble for false advertising a while back and I haven't had anything from them in years (although I've been eyeing the 10 year). I also didn't realize they were doing barrel picks.
I picked one of these up from a local place recently, and have had the 10 yr in the past. I think my pick was okay value for $40-$50, I thought my 10 yr drank pretty light but those are single barrels too.

How’s that Tropics? It gets good reviews, but is it worth $100?

Good evening to tewino and epic as well. Not an intentional snub.

It very good, has a unique taste in it for sure that I don’t get from other bourbon. Hard to put a finger on it but like most reviews it’s like a soft tropical fruit. The viscosity is very coating and the oak notes drink closer to a 10-12 year old product. A value price would be about $79.99, but your extra $20 does have a cool story and a unique taste. I would say for people in this thread it’s a buy. For a handful of us it’s a buy plus a back up.

I’ve never been a Jefferson’s Ocean fan and usually regret it after I buy one. You’re going to make me make the same mistake again aren’t you?

It does not have the predominant salt taste some of the rougher batches of Ocean has. It has tons of baking spice, vanilla and toffee. Just watch some of the bourbon nerds on You tube, Trey is not paying them all enough to say they are shocked and impressed.

Good evening gentlemen. I'm going with some easy sippers tonight. This one is getting low. It's so versatile.
