Soon man. Just let me know. Didn't know you were in to the brown stuff.

Indeed I am. Typically I enjoy a good strait bourbon, but I occasion scotch as well.

Now that I have an experienced scotch drinkers attention, what do you think of my first few targets as I branch off into scotch?
Higland Park 12, Glendronach 12, Caol Ila 12 and Balvenie 12 Double Wood.
Balvenie 12 Double Wood is a good start. Glenfiddich 15 Solera is similar. Both of those are good transitions from bourbon to scotch. The Glendronach 12 is also good, but stronger and definitely more scotch like. HIghland Park will start to have more smoke and a bit of peat and is a good medium (I'd put Oban in that category also). I don't like the strong peat and smoke of the Islays so I stay away from Caol Ila.
This is a good chart on flavors. I stick to the middle or bottom of the chart. Usually Speyside or Highland regions.

I finally opened my bottle of rhetoric last night. I really enjoyed it and will have to do a side by side with barter house.

It's quite a bit better than the barterhouse

Thanks for the chart. I was trying to pick one bottle from each flavor profile and region so I can compare and see what I like. I did start with the Balvenie and thought it was great. I think my second bottle will be the highland park so I can experience a little peat flavor.

I liked barterhouse also. It has just been a long time since I've had it. Blind side by side tastings are usually pretty fun.
I'll definitely try lost prophet and forged oak if I find them. I won't go out of my way looking though.

FPD: old faithful ETL. But now I'm a little sad because I only have about 1 pour left of it. The search will be back on shortly.
