It's not the same whiskey as the sixteen year but I like that bottle as well. The Hirsch name is being used to capitalize off the reviews of the sixteen year. I have a bottle of the small batch reserve. I also have a bottle of twenty five year hirsch that I haven't been able to find out if it came from Michters distillery or somewhere else.

Finished a bottle of Woodford Reserve, typically my go to, and decided to go for a bottle of Blanton's. Damn good stuff. Any other suggestions in the same taste profile? I dont think I am a fan of wheated bourbons

I haven't been following this thread, but I figure it's as good a place as any to ask.

A friend from out of town introduced me to Redbreast a few nights ago. I was pretty deep in my cups, but I thought it was quite tasty at the time. Any thoughts concerning this particular whiskey/ideas where I can find a bottle in NOLA?

There are more none-wheated bourbons than there are wheated. stay away from wl weller and pappy( ) and just try a few in the 30-50 price range

Think an eagle rare (not the 17 ) old fashioned is in order shortly...

If you liked Blanton's, you can stay within the same mashbill and try a couple variations. Elmer T Lee is the same stuff, but a bit younger. It'll run you a little under $30 (it's my go to daily bourbon). Rock Hill Farms is also made from the same juice but supposedly aged a little longer and also bottled at higher proof so just be ready for that. It's usually about the same price as Blanton's, maybe a little cheaper.

If you made it with the 17, I'd know you were a true OT baller

I was thinking that I would make a couple old fashions today myself. Only problem is I've never made one before, so I don't really know what bourbon to put in it.

Here is what's in my cabinet:
EH Taylor Barrel Proof
EH Taylor Single Barrel
Thomas H. Handy
Russell's Reserve Single Barrel
Four Roses Single Barrel
(I'm not using any of those)

Angels Envy (the port finishing would make the drink pretty weird)

Eagle Rare 10
W.L. Weller 12
Willet Pot Still reserve
Elijah Craig 12
Noah's Mill
Bookers

Suggestions?

I wasn't a huge fan of the Willet so I used it.

Wow, that is some dangerously easy drinking!
