How do I get in on that?

The samples or the barrels they chose?
Posted on 1/24/14 at 7:01 pm to Uncle JackD
Those barrel strength bottles?

Yeah, I talked to him about that. Looks like late-Springish.

Trying to teach him to pace himself.

I've spent the night going back and forth between Martin's George Dickel barrel select 9 & 14. When I tried them both at the store, I thought I preferred the 9 but after really tasting them, the 14 is the clear winner. Both are good, but the 14 just has more going on. It's oakier, yet sweeter. Fairly complex and really good.

I went between the alexanders 9 and martins 14 and like the 14 better as well. Had more flavor to me as you have said.
UJ the place in BR is supposed to get it.
DVT are you putting a nipple on your bourbon glass again.

Bourbon is so good when it's cold outside.

These comments are spot on for my tastes as well.
That's the dangerous thing about the higher rye content bourbons and high proof bourbons, they're gateways into the flavor bombs and once you've had a few of those, the others seem less interesting. I'll just have to learn to have nights with barrel proofs, nights with ryes, nights with more mellow whisky, etc so I don't throw off the palate.

Not a huge Beam guy but that's one I'll try to get my hands on

I've only had Bookers once, do y'all think it'd worth the $50 price tag?
Posted on 1/25/14 at 2:03 pm to Uncle JackD
I do, but I think I like beam more than most here. I enjoy Booker's and Knob Creek. I usually also have a handle of the 8 year for making cocktails.

Isn't the regular 8yr? I guess $50 is decent for an uncut/unfiltered 8 year old whiskey
Older and cheaper than Taylor BP

Regular beam is four years. Booker's is normally 6 to 7 years.
