Just polished fresh fried trout & oysters, charbroiled oysters, and grilled redfish. Polishing off some BT and headed to Arties

If you guys could chose any one of the ten recipes for a barrel proof single barrel of Four Roses, which one would you choose? I ask because I stumbled across this and was very intrigued.

I have seen that before. I had read on them and thought if one I'd probably get but I don't remember and I didn't get it. It was from a different place that I found out after didn't ship to louisiana. The site I was originally looking on had some good descriptions of each one of the components of those.

Having some of the JB now...have to say I really like it! Cost a little more at about 45 but really smooth with a little more burn. Will buy again...and the bowman bro too.

Y'all and your trout can stfu

Beard have you had the John Bowman?

Trying to be budget friendly the bowman bro fits the bill very well...but if your looking to spring for a little more in really digging the JB.

The problem with trying to pick your favorite recipe is four roses doesn't list the recipe on the regular single barrel bottles. Only the limited edition and private selection barrels. Gonna be hard to track down a big variety

Eating at MiLa's tonight. Amazing food. Trying Basil's for the first time, neat. It is delicious. Tastes like Werther's Original in a bottle

Not yet...I ended up with just one 125yr and one SB. So I'll probably open both to have in the near future.

Now I'm having some bowman brothers small batch and then I'll try the single barrel version John Bowman.

The single barrel is excellent... It can be found for $45, but I wouldn't pay more than that for it.

Gotta say...I may even like it more than the 4r SB I'm having now. It's really good...need to have some more pours.

Definitely a great pour. ABC Liquor wants $59.99 for it around here. I think it's priced right at $45-$50. The 4R can be found for $35, which is a great value too.

I got it from the wine and cheese place for 45 plus shipping. You get enough and shipping is pretty good...about 3.30 a bottle.

What do you all think about Basil Hayden? It's one I haven't yet tried. Most of my local places want $35-$40 for it...

Long days at the hospital this week, but finally got out to do a little hunting. Pretty good for a quick trip...

BT is a single barrel selected by a local place so def looking forward to trying it. The Japanese whiskey was recommended by one of my local guys so we'll see how that goes; supposedly has lots of honey, pear, and apple flavors which was intriguing. Planning to do a blend soon so had to get the WL12 and OWA107 for that...and was obviously pretty excited to finally get a VW product in the wild and for retail!

It's pretty good for what it is. It's a light, easy to drink bourbon with good vanilla and caramel notes, but not much spice. It's usually priced okay right above $30 and I say that mostly because it's not very complex. If you're looking for a light sipper, it's a good one; if you're going for complexity to your pour, may want to look elsewhere.
