You'd have to drink a few of those decanters a night to lead to have any effect.
You are probably right about having to drink it every night to be harmful but it is surprising how much lead leaches into the contents.
I read where a guy had bought some Wild Turkey ceramic decanters from the 80's and he got curious of the lead content so he sent a sample to a lab. Here is what he posted the test showed.

First of all, many thanks to the guys at Pro-Lab. They were informative and fun to work with. I really appreciate their willingness to facilitate my odd request.
Today they were kind enough to give me a call, and the results were surprising. In fact, the results were so surprising that they ran the test 3 times to confirm.
In summary, the lead content within my sample was nearly 1,000 times higher than the acceptable limit in water. For example; while the acceptable lead limit in water is 14.9 parts per billion (ppb) the content of my sample was 14,700 ppb.
In effect, 15 versus 14,700.

I have a bottle of 2015 Thomas Handy Sazerace Rye that I'm looking to trade.
Ideally looking for a bottle of William Larue Weller Bourbon or George Stagg Straight Bourbon. Open to all offers though.
Trades only!
Btw - I was pleasantly surprised with the Gifted Horse Orphan Barrel. It was a lot smoother than I was expecting.

Is that a bad trade? I'm kind of a bourbon noob.

Stagg/Weller are more desired than Handy to most people...you may have to throw in cash/something extra to make that work.

What about the Eagle Rare 17?
Posted on 2/29/16 at 6:29 pm to Nolaphried
I would think to go from Handy to any other antique collection whiskey you will need to add something,

I really doubt you'll have any luck getting a 2015 WLW or Stagg for a 2015 ER

I assume he was trying to go from Handy to trade for an ER17. Even with this being a supposedly down year for ER17, I think you would need to find someone who absolutely loves Handy to make it happen.
