First (of many tonight) PD: Rouse’s BT Store Pick

I’m about to have a couple dozen kids at my house for a birthday party (15-16 yo’s). I guess I need to stand guard over my bourbon.

How is Ricky’s? It’s been on radar but have not made it out there.

I went there about a month ago. He was getting ready to open up another half of the store so whenever that happens (may have already) he’s going to double his floor space. Had some ok stuff but nothing elusive. Although the day I went there where a lot of holes on the shelf. The guy I talked to wasn’t the bourbon guy, it was his brother. He said they were due for a big delivery the next day and his knowledge of bourbon was limited. He said his brother was the bourbon guru. His prices weren’t bad. Had ER for about $30 which is normal but he was about $10 more on some scotch I get from Martins. I def plan on going back soon to see what the layout is if he is done with the expansion.

But if you are searching around the area you should go check out River Ridge Discount Liquor on Jeff. Hwy. He’s across the street from John Curtis school. He’s got a great selection and some really good prices. I just got a 1792 Full Proof from him for $49.

I’ll check it out thanks. Someone on here recommend River Ridge and they have a nice selection along with nice store picks.

I pop into Rickys about once a month. I’ve gotten an EHT Single Barrel from him and it was about $10 more than retail. He had told me in November they were expecting a barrel of blantons and eagle rare. I don’t think that ever happened but to be honest I haven’t been back in.

I walked into Martin’s in Metairie when they had this, and it was the last one of the shelf. I asked for more and they said that was it, I think it sold out in a few hours.

This is good.

Intersting. I had to ask for it in the back when I got two bottles. But that was almost a month ago. And yeah it was 28.99

I enjoyed it...I already cleaned a bottle out. I really wanted to get a Dorginacs one and do a side by side but I never ended up making it there. Wonder if they still have it.

Do you like?

I do .. they did a great job on this pick. It’s not overly complex but ER10 never is and this is a very nice bump from the regular bottle.

I do not give any money any more to Dorignacs.

What’s the story here? Was it a price thing or something else? I’ve seen them mark up bottles $15-$20 over some local comp but they do have a large well priced selection as well which keeps me checking in.

$400 for BTAC, $80 for OWA, $90 for GTS jr., etc They are the only retail to do this. At least Mainstream. they are setting a terrible precedence. I mean even MM RC6 was $10 more than it should be.

Yeah I agree. If you are not aware of what things costs, they have a few bottles priced to get you. Months ago Old Ezra found its way to them and Martins. Martins priced it at $36 while Dorignacs was asking $60. I don’t mind a $2-$5 swing but $15 - $20 is a bit much. Same thing with Isaac Bowman Port Finish. Dorignacs asking almost $70 and at Martins and Zuppardos it’s $43-$45. I still stop from time to time based on their selection but they aren’t my first stop.
