Been following this thread for awhile and finally decided to jump in. Until now, I’ve taken my whiskey with a side of coke (a-cola not caine) but I’m ready to do better

Made a trip to Calandro’s this morning. Didn’t really know what to look for and wanted to stay around $50/bottle until I learn better.

Grabbed a bottle of Four Roses single barrel and an Old Scout 107 single barrel. Good place to start?

Great first selections. Both easy drinkers neat or with a touch of water.

Eagle Rare is my favorite.

But Jefferson's is making a run at it.

Muddle 1-2 tbs simple syrup with fresh mint leaves. Add bourbon of choice. Fill the glass high with sonic ice. Use a straw. Don't chug, but don't nurse either.

I like a 1.5:1 sugar:water ratio for the syrup. Using Old Taylor 6 year for the bourbon today. Don't murder the leaves when you muddle. Garnish with mint leaf if you're into the presentation.

Well I bought this unknowingly and turned it green. St. Patrick’s day derby

I’ll just stick to drinking my bourbon neat and let the pros handle the bourbon mixers
