We took the Norwegian ship out of NOLA with about 25 friends to Mexico and Central America. Had a great time. We had unlimited free drinks up to $15 per drink included in the price of the cruise.

The bourbon selection was lacking so I decided before I got on the ship that aged rum and tequila was the drink of choice. I had to pay a $2 per drink upcharge for 23 year Zacapa or I could pay the same upcharge for Makers. I drank a ton of Bacardi dark 8 year and Pussers for free.

Where are you staying? We made a long weekend trip there a couple of years ago and had a good time.

leave the Zacapa alone..see if they have Botran, same distillery much less $
Bacardi is a mediocre rum, now made in Puerto Rico.
Other good brands from the caribbean:
Kaniche XO, Barbados
Kirk & Sweeney, Dominican
Havana Club "Selecciones de Maestro" Cuba if the boat stops there....same with CANEY, Cuba Centenario Anejo ... Centenario 12 is expensive.

BTW the Bacardi Añejo is MADE IN MEXICO, sugar cane much better than the PR product....still using original formula from Cuba ... ???

When you are on the ship, you only get to choose the liquor on the ship, but I will store that away for the future...

So I was in Costco the other night and sitting on the shelf, alone and lonely, was this bottle of Stagg Jr. I’ve always stayed away from Jr due to the bad reviews I’ve read of earlier batches. Some of you baws really talked up the latest batch so I pulled the trigger. I let it sit for about 10 min after pouring and dove in. Man it was harsh. I was a little upset at first. Buuuut, after about another 10 min it really started to open up. After another 5 min or so, I felt like I was drinking ‘17 GTS. Man this stuff is good.

When that Stagg Jr gets down to the antlers or has been open about 2-3 months hold on to your hat.

Thank you, sir. I’m on a brief visit home to take care of the pets before heading back to the hospital so I think I’ll join ya.
