What is it? Bourbon with mint flavoring and simple syrup? A mint julep is incredibly easy to make, seems unnecessary.

After a couple of post the past couple of days about cheap BTAC pours in Louisville and all the barrel selects in Knoxville, it got me thinking. Is there an interests, especially with people traveling this summer, to put together a map of good bourbon bars and places?

That's an awesome idea Wick! Have a list or map of verified spots that have good selections of whiskey. We can break it down by bars and retailers for each state!

Yeah you're right.. Going out, buying mint and other ingredients, and preparing the drink is just as easy as pulling out the bottle and pouring over ice.... Especially when the pre mixed is as good or better.

Breaking bourbon did a blind taste review on the mint juleps and makers actually finished dead last. Old forrester finished second only to the traditional mix it yourself with woodford.

Just purchased

Skipped on the Makers Pharoh. Maybe if it's still around in a week I'll pick it up. It's just regular makers in a liter bottle with the paint design. I preferred the Woodfords Derby bottle instead.

People have different tastes. I found the Makers let more of the bourbon shine through and was not as sugary.
On a side note I still have a few bottles of the Evan Williams mint julep. Now that one was really sweet tasting.
Next time I run across a bottle of the Makers I will grab you one and you can be the judge.

I guess. I keep simple syrup in the fridge and mint in the garden. But I'm up to try anything so I'll probably pick up a bottle and give it a shot.

Unfortunately, I really enjoyed it, lol. I may have to try to get a bottle and my sources have failed me.
