Gonna have a free day in Denver in a couple weeks and considering driving up to Fort Collins(never been)

Was looking at Odell and Funkwerks. Is New Belgium worth it?

Yes, NB is the best one up there. I would hit those three then depending on whether you are spending the night or not start working my way back down to Denver. If staying in FC, then hit up Choice City, Mayor of Old Town, tap and Handle and maybe Coppersmith. FYI-the breweries in FC close early, real early like 6-7 I think, the other places i listed are bars that are open til 2(except Choice City) and all have food.

If staying in Denver head south to Oskar Blues and Left Hand in Longmont then over to Avery in Boulder then back to Denver.

There are a lot of cool small places to hit in Boulder and the surrounding areas but you won't have time or be able to drive if you do.

Odell was my favorite we hit...did NB who does a great tour as well.

There's another in a strip mall downtown that I can't remember that was good, I'll update post if I can recall.

ETA: Pateros Creek...that's it

New Belgium is good if you can reserve a spot. We enjoyed Great Divide when up there in January. Not the most informative tour but they're passionate about their beer.

Edit: misread...NB is the best choice in FC bar none. But this close notice, it's going to be rough reserving a tour spot.

NB is awesome tour or not. You probably can't reserve a spot but people are no shows so you may get in the tour. It's worth it just to hit the tap room.

When my wife and I went we skipped New Belgium.

Freedom's Edge downtown was awesome, and Funkwerks was probably the favorite. Odell was nice, but large and packed when we went.

Pateros Creek was cool, but like someone said, they close early and we only had time for one round. There is a cidery and a distillery on the same block, so we ended up spending more time at the cidery than intended, but they were super nice and kept bringing out test runs of small plates they were working on in the kitchen.

And absolutely DO NOT MISS Equinox Brewing, which is basically downtown as well. Probably neck and neck with Funkwerks for the best beer on the trip.

There was a also a pretty cool little distillery on the street that runs from Funkwerks to Odell.

For food, hit up Choice City Butcher & Deli, also walking distance of downtown. Great food and a really nice tap selection.

What makes the NB taproom a must?

I'll be in Denver next weekend, I'm wondering if I need to rework some plans

I skipped that one, because we get their beer down here and I was more interested in the breweries we can't get. I'm sure they have plenty of taproom only stuff (hopefully) but just not enough time.

I went before we got their beer here, but there really wasn't much available on tap that you couldn't get in TX at the time.

A few older bottles of La Folie, Le Terroir, and a couple other lips of faith beers, but that was about it.

We had a much better time at Odells and Equinox

Agreed.

Avery is another DO NOT MISS for me. Really enjoyed the tap room there and it should only be getting better.

Hitting this up in a couple of weeks. Cause of time and other obligations won't be able to fit in a trip to Fort Collins. But are going to Avery and Left Hand. Anything else in Longmont or Boulder that I should also think of?
