Where's the Best Place to Get Nice and Sweet Satsumas?

The grocery store ones just aren't that sweet.

They are all over right now. My parents' back yard is full of them. Go find a farmer's market if you don't have a friend or relative growing them. If you like them that much you should plant a tree. It doesn't take them long to produce at all.

Another thing. I pick them mottled: some orange/yellow and green. Then they sit in a bowl for a week. They will ripen and get sweeter, but the sweetness really seems to increase after I refrigerate them for a couple days. Not sure if it's a temperature thing or they are really sweeter.

Not sure if they're available yet but take a drive to Belle Chase. There's a produce stand before the tunnel that sells them.

I get them from a coworker or my Uncle..... this years crop is really good so far.

Early December, that's where you go. Wait until after the 1st frost to pick them.
