How close to the Cajun Dome do you want to stay?
Drive a little and go to Old Tyme. Get you a sandwich.

A few miles away but I'd go to Johnson's Boucaniere. Boudin and smoked meats, as well as plate lunches.

ETA: damn forgot it was closed on Monday

I can look outside the window and see the Cajun dome.

I will venture out a little I guess...like I said looking to get something that isn't McDonald's, Burger King, or Taco Bell

Old Tyme Grocery. Have the shrimp poboy. Done.

Go down Congress to St. Mary to get there, not Johnston to St. Mary. The university's in and the main gates are on St. Mary. Old Tyme is a block from campus and it's a zoo at that St. Mary/Johnston intersection when school's in. Much easier to reach coming from Congress.

Yea. The DT Agave is better for some reason. In that area there is much better.

Rouse's is always a choice as well. Plate lunches, sushi, pizza, salads.

Idk if they are open for lunch, and I'm sort of hijacking this thread, but how is cafe habana?

I always liked their Cuban sandwiches, but I never had anything else there.

I used to get sandwiches (ok, just The Gambler) at BJs all the time, too, when I worked in Lafayette. That's another non-chain that's decent in the area.
