Found a dude on Facebook marketplace with good reviews who’s dropping off a cord of oak and cherry for $180 tomorrow.
ETA: a cord of wood is 222,184 cubic inches. A bag of wood chunks at Lowe’s is 600 cubic inches for $16. If I extrapolated that out to a whole cord it would cost $5900
Hopefully this is fine smoking wood. If not I have three fireplaces to feed this winter.
This is the way.
Your firebox is only 12x12 and standard firewood is cut to 16 inches so you'll still need to get to Ace Hardware and get an electric bitch-chainsaw to halve them up.
Make sure to explain to the man in the hardware store that this saw is for your wife to do arts and crafts. If you still have a Covid mask somewhere, might wanna wear that too. And pay cash, no trace to your financial accounts.
ETA- Google AI lied to me. Your firebox isn't 12x12, you should theoretically still be able to slide some 16 inch logs in there.

You mean on top of the fire box?
In and on the firebox. I would have to draw a pic to explain how I put them in the firebox without burning

Would it be too hilarious to cut them up with my 8’ pole saw?

You can legit get a million views on youtube if you made an Oklahoma Joe review video and did a solid 3 minutes of cutting your wood in half with an 8 ft pole saw.
I have a couple youtube accounts I can publish it for you, if you don't want to go through the hassle of that aspect.
You should absolutely do this.

I put logs in each of the circled spots, kind of wedged up against the sides. And then I put 3-4 logs on top of the firebox

how do you close the lid and the side-lid when you have wood stuffed in there?

The problem with using wood from someone local who cut it up is they used bar oil on their chainsaw blade. Bar oil is on the ends of all the wood and can give a bad taste.

It's not close to the firebox door and there's plenty of room for the main door to close

You're better off just using a skil saw
