I swore off of vodka almost the first time I tried it.
But, I am surprised that no one has mentioned anything about pineapple juice and vodka.

pineapple juice
That is reserved for rum.

Origins in the misty recesses of the late 60s, early 70s.
3 parts fresh watermelon juice
2 parts vodka
Dash of salt (palm of hand measure)
Stir or shake
Pour over packed crushed ice in a tall glass (here a variant that I much applaud allows fresh mint to be mixed liberally in the crushed ice)
Add lemon slices to garnish
(0riginal GatorAid can be used in lieu of watermelon juice for a unique pool side experience)
The whole concoction (less lemons) can be run through the blender for a slushee. Add lemon slices and append frieze to its name.
-Lake Pontchartrain Breeze/Frieze
(w/watermelon juice)
-Bucktown Breeze/Frieze
(w/GatorAid)
A friend has experimented using tequila in this and, upon downing several, gave the drink the nom de guerre "Conquistador", whether in honor of Hernan Cortes or Procol Harum I know not.
Be warned: watermelon juice is a potent diuretic. Combined with large quantities of vodka we were tempted by experience to name the drink the "Pee & Pass Out" or "Pass Out & Pee" but believed those too vulgar for mixed company and such as might scare off a wary party goer. Despite all misgivings, that name has stubbornly persisted.
