I really think it's just a snobbish (for lack of a better word) qualifier.


Table salt is also iodized vs kosher salt. I find it easier to control how much kosher salt is applied to something like a steak since the lighter fluffier flakes distribute more evenly.

I also have pink Himalayan salt in my salt grinder. Is it necessary? No. But I have a matching pepper grinder, so why not use both?

This is my go to. They also make a fine version of it that I use for brining since it seems to dissolve easier.

Diamond kosher is the best all around, imo.

The regular kosher is the red box - LINK
