At the end of the month when money was tight, on a Sunday night when the fraternity kitchen was closed, I'd often buy two cans of "pork" and beans for 50 cents. I also was not above eating the leftover crusts from someone else's pizza. If I had a few bucks, I'd make dirty rice with hamburger meat, mushrooms, onions and peppers. That was heaven.

Egg noodles
Canned jar of some terrible alfredo sauce
Chunked chicken in a can
A can of rotel

With better ingredients it might even be pretty good. It sufficed back then.

I was fortunate to work at the Chimes, so a bowl of D&S gumbo and a side of fries were a cheap treat during the week.

I worked at a Sam's Club in college.

A pack of 10 bean burritos was $6.98. A little picante sauce after 2 minutes on high in the microwave. Lunch and dinner for 5 days. Skipped breakfast. Saved cash for beer.

Also, microwave baked potato, slice of budget cheese, and imitation butter/margarine spread.

Ate plenty of fried luncheon meat sandwiches, too.

Hated the olive loaf sandwiches, turkey pastrami was the best.

Fall/winter: Campbells tomato soup and grilled cheese

Spring/summer: rudy’s sauce sandwich (two pieces of bread, sauce, and pickles)

Late night snack: raisin bread and peanut butter.

Whenever I had to hard core study, I would literally just eat some skittles and drink water and that would be fine with me. It was better than eating Taco Bell, McDonald's, Chick-Fil-A all the time.

If I was at the dorm/apartment, it was a combination of Totino's pizzas/pizza rolls/bagel bites, or Tyson chicken nuggets and whatever alcohol I had lying around.
