One of the partners worked in the import/export business. They absolutely import sausages from Poland and Germany.

Well I'm not privy to his international manifest, i'm relying on the article linked but he says he does and the ones from Harahan are local "craft" encased meat. I can buy Manda andouille at Albertsons or I can buy Jacobs handmade in LaPlace and pay double.
Or maybe just a bunch of Polacks in Harahan.

But if I add a drink and tax I'm around $12.00 right?
Right?
Right?

That would be correct. Again, we make our own stuff and thus our labor costs are higher. I am only giving my opinion that I don't think the cost of of an item where nothing is made is as high as the cost of an item that is made. Again...only my opinion. I could be dead wrong.

do you still work at Boo Koo? the last 3 times ive been there i havent seen you or your SO. Are neither of you guys there fulltime?
BooKoo is actually worth the money to me. That's a strong 11-12 dollar meal.

Previously I only worked there very, very rarely. I did all the behind the scenes stuff.
Now I'm never there, as my ex is running it. I'm still part owner.

Say what you will...but we MAKE all of our food. That brisket burger starts as a whole brisket, which we grind and then MAKE our own patties.
Why is your brisket burger $12.00 and Podnuh's large brisket sandwich is like $4.00? I doubt you put any more effort into that brisket than they do. I can damn near get a 3 meat plate of ribs, chicken, and sausage for $12.00.

Eat both and then make a comparision on what you're getting on the levels of taste, quality and price.
You really can't speak intelligently about it until you've had both.
And if after you've had both, you still feel that Podnuh's is a better value, then you have every right to that, as it's your opinion.
Just as I have mine. My opinion is just that...an opinion.

As far as I know, he's there quite a bit. But I'm not in the loop as much now...so I'm not sure.

Interesting thread.
Started with someone wanting to know the name of of the hot dog place.
Then went to the prices of said hot dogs...AGAIN.
Then onto a debate about said prices...AGAIN.
Then closing with my ex husband's work hours.

I understand by you grinding a brisket you have an additional labor factor but I'm speculating the cost to import his sausage offsets the cost of your additional labor and I'd be willing to bet, unless you are importing your brisket, it's pretty accurate.
So we are back to a sandwich, fries and drink at $12.00 (and I'm using hamburger, po boy, hot dog as sandwiches for generalizing) which in my opinion is not a bad deal money wise.
And I don't think that is OT ballin. I think that is just the reality of the food business and I'm confident it won't reverse itself anytime soon.

You seriously think the price of importing some sausages is the same as the cost of labor and taxes and insurance of said employee. Really?

Employees are expensive and Dat Dog has a lot more of them.
