I just can't eat sirloin. Every time someone talks me into it saying, "But, but, it's really good here" I regret it. That part of the cow should never be cut into steaks.
Agreed. Bland + shitty texture = no way to eat a steak

has anyone said jambalaya or gumbo yet?
I know a lot of people have said that their jambalaya & gumbo is better, including myself, but I think that is a legit comparison because this is Louisiana & most people here cook gumbo & jambalaya & most restaurants serve the dishes. Do we discount people of Italian heritage who say their red sauce is better than they can get at a restaurant? The question was "what do you cook better than..." so I think most people went to their go-to dishes to make the comparisons, & since a lot of people hail from a gumbo/jambalaya region with many restaurants offering that fare, those are the most logical comparisons to be made.

I love to cook and think I'm pretty good at it. This thread has me laughing pretty hard this morning.
It's silliness, for sure.
I can make better gumbo than Piccadilly can, but big deal. Winning a competition or three or five for making jambalaya better than a bunch of other amateur home cooks doesn't make yours better than any restaurant, though I do believe that jambalaya is generally not made as well in many restaurants as it is as home. I like my chicken and andouille gumbo better than most I've had in restaurants including Mr. B's and K-Paul's, but that doesn't make it better than any restaurant. I like my own burgers more than what I can remember Burger King's taste like when I had one as a child.
I can't for the life of me make a ham sandwich that tastes just like Lea's in Lecompte even if I use their ham. Just isn't the same as theirs on those little plastic plates.

My wife can just layer on the ham/cheese/mayo and I'll like it better than no matter what i do. Other's sandwiches are always better for me.

I don't think I've EVER eaten a burger at someone's house that I thought was very good.
Me neither. As a kid, I would refuse to eat burgers at home or other people's houses. But I eat burgers in restaurants.
Yes I'm aware that one could buy the ingredients used in a restaurant burger and I'd like it but whether it not they CAN, they simply don't when I've been over.

My dad grills the best hamburger I've ever had. I hate even ordering one out anymore, from anywhere.

He never says this, (he's rather humble about it) but gets the "this is the best burger I've ever eaten" comment every time he grills for friends, family, church, tailgates, etc.
To answer the OP's question, I think the main things I cook that are better than what I've had at restaurants are cornbread dressing, gumbo, smoked & bbq'd meats (at least around the SELA area).

Outback came to Afghanistan and cooked us all Bloomin' Onions, fried shrimp and Ribeye's. There were like 40 of us out back of the D-fac on home made grills cooking ribeyes and drinking O Douls.
good times.

Not to me. That certain taste in that atmosphere is nostalgically delicious.

At least you didn't say "pasta with Monjuni sauce".

This morning Jackie, the cleaning lady at the gym walked by and asked: "Zach, what you cookin' for Lucy today?"
Me: "Nothing. I've got too many leftovers. Spaghetti with Monjuni Sauce, fried shrimp, chicken salad for sammiches and filet mignon. If I have too many leftovers something is about to go bad and I have to give it to the dogs."
Jackie: "Well, you ain't gonna give no filet mignon to no dogs."
Me: "I've done it."
Jackie: "You crazy, Zach."

Leftover steak never last past the next morning in my house.

It's a case where something else in the fridge is more appealing at the time. I've never given a whole steak to a dog but if there are 4 small slices left and I'd rather eat something else I toss the steak to the dogs.
