Tradition: I pick all the leftover turkey, mostly dark meat, and throw it into a gumbo with andouille. Potato salad to go with it. Also got some boudin from Quebedeaux's in Alexandria in the oven.

At the camp….. Just me and my old man.

He bought ribeyes for the two of us. Sides were baked potatoes, salad, and garlic bread. We have been chasing deer for a week now. His goal was for my oldest son and youngest nephew to kill their first deer this week. Mission accomplished by the end of the day Sunday.

He and I agreed that we needed to take out a few does, BUT we’re not doing so this evening as neither of us felt up to cleaning one. Well, I had a huge nanny come in with 3 yearlings at 5pm. I told myself I wasn’t killing this evening. Five minutes into their feeding routine, she catches wind of me and starts stomping. I said to myself, “I’m not hurting you. Please don’t blow.”

She blew….. We just finished cleaning her and our supper. Pops wasn’t happy when I replied to his text that I’ve got a big nanny down.
