Stick of butter and oil in a bowl. I usually keep the butter out to get soft, combine with two tablesppons of oil olive, mix with a fork and when soft, add seasoning of choice. Pull back the breast skin and spread mixture underneath and then the rest of the bird.

Put on indirect heat at 300-350. I was at 325 most of the time.

Thanks. Did you leave the bird out to come to room temp before putting it on the cooker?

Size of bird? How long did it take?

EDIT: I planned to inject with a butter/herb mix, rub down with seasoning. Instead of smoking with wood, make a foil packet with a bunch of herbs and put directly on coals. I’m combining a couple of John Setzlers turkey videos from YouTube

Yep, 30 minutes. ...18lb, 3 1/2 hours. The circular heat always cooks these things faster.

Having a thermator is a must because of that. can’t eyeball it. I use a thermator for everything.

I don’t use wood as poultry obsorbs wood like crazy. The hardwood charcoal is enough but if you want to use wood make sure its something like apple or cherry.

Mamma Bear Soup. There were sloppy Joes on the counter, but I didn't eat any. Instead I ate maybe 6 iced sugar cookies.
