Tin roof takes home gold for best hazy/juicy pale in America at gabf.
Also only medal any Louisiana brewery takes home.

Good for them. Voodoo is a great beer for what it is. If you would have told me 2 yrs ago Tin Roof would collect a gold medal for anything, let alone at GABF, I would’ve laughed in your face. This is a big deal. Not sure if this is the biggest competition, but it certainly is a true competition with many many entries and real-deal judging. Geaux local, baby!

That's an awesome win. Wonder who all was in that category.

Awesome win. Awesome beer.
TR has been very good lately, and any haters are just still too shy to try the new beers/recipe.
They owned their mediocrity, cleaned house, and got people in there that had a pulse on where craft beer was going.

I mean it’s drinkable but the best in America?

I think that’s a fair question - but can you name a better “hazy pale ale” you’ve had?
New category no doubt; and not being a smart arse. I just think of that specific category, I don’t think I’ve had a better beer than voodoo In that style.
People around here like to hate on Tin Roof, but they’ve done what people want of sub par businesses: see their flaw and fix it.

I've had many gold medal winners from GABF over the years and they are usually average at best

It’s arguably not even the best in LA.

T00f, why you were shooting Jamison with BigErn without me?

I was there behind the table. I asked Ern if he saw you and he said I just missed y’all talking shots with him.

All fair comparisons. Were these sent in to GABF?
I’d say for some palates, Voodoo is better than Envie. I’ve had that experience. Especially with the consistency issues at Parish.
I’m not arguing that this is the best pale ale in America, but I just think it’s funny that poeple are in awe or disbelief that TR could win such an award.
And for the GABF doubters - talk to the big time craft brewers that pimp their awards:
Firestone Walker
Saint Arnold
Real Ale
I think there are plenty medal winners that are exemplary standards for the style of beer in question.
