Under counter beverage/wine cooler

We are building a house and want to put one of these in.
Option 1-Wine only
Option 2-Beverage (cans and bottles) only
Option 3-Dual zone
I'd love to do the dual zone, but worried about spending $1000 for a piece of crap.
Any experience out there with these?

How much wine do you guys drink? Do you currently store your wine in a climate controlled setting? If so, how many bottles?
In what room will this cooler be installed? IMO, if you're going to put this in a room where it will be visible, I would do wine-only. Looks a little classier. Put a full size refrigerator in your garage/laundry room for beer and other drinks.

I have found wine coolers, while great for keeping wine chilled, just don't cut it when wanting an ice cold beer. So if you're into reds, which we are, we keep our wine cooler stocked and serve our red's around 52° - 55°, because that's how we like it. Twine fridge's with glass fronts and lighting are typically more aesthetically pleasing in an interior bar area. Now if your beverage cooler will have a non glass front, then you could opt for a can and bottle cooler, keep your reds stowed at room temp, and chill whites and reds in them when you're ready to consume, or just the whites if you like reds served a bit warmer.
Will you have a utility fridge in the garage? I ask because that is where I keep my beer, and home brew bottled beers. When we have a function at the house, I will move beers to the inside fridge in the kitchen or into an ice chest stocked on the patio.
BTW, this is all one man's humble opinion...

They may have improved the last couple of years, but our family went through a few of them about 5 or years ago. Nothing expensive, but we had multiple quit working after a year or so. It seemed at the time that was a routine issue, I can't remember the details but they don't have the traditional refrigeration because they don't get that cold and what they did have was not very reliable.
If you got the money to just blow, as said just get one for one. I can't see the dual zoned being worth it. Plus you can just leave your red wine out for 10 minutes and it will be warmed to where you want it. White and reds are kept close enough in temp to not have a dual zone imo, it's all for looks.

Good questions.
We don't drink a ton of wine. Let's say 6 bottles per month. Anticipate more when we move though. We will have more friends/community.
This will be in the kitchen.
We currently have a table top cooler that holds 8 bottles. It's fine. My wife actually prefers wine at about 60 degrees, and since it is thermoelectric it works for that temp. Have to have the compressor type for beer etc.
We are about 80%/20% red/white.
Won't have a garage fridge, but will have a under counter fridge in the basement/terrace level. (Yes, this is Georgia so we have daylight basements
). As an aside, I am damned determined to keep the garage empty except for cars, bikes and kayaks with the bikes and kayaks in ceiling hangers!
Edit: By dual zone, I don't mean for whites and reds, but the kind for wine on one side at 55 degrees and beer on the other at 35.

Same. We have one that has held on for 3 or 4 years now, and is fine for wine but doesn't get most beer or other drinks cold enough. I like it for my stouts, and that's about it.
Funny thing is the one we have now that has been the best was a garage sale find for $30. We had 3 before that one, and all quit working.

I have a Jenn Air Beverage Center in my new kitchen and love it. 35 in one zone and 58 in the other. Works great and has a motion sensor that kicks on the lights and illuminates the floor when you walk in the kitchen at night.

Yeah it's a cooler, not a fridge
We have a 32 bottle cellar that I also put stouts and reserves in. It's usually about half wine, half beer, but right now, there's a little bit more wine.
As for OP, get a wine cooler. For cans and bottles that you want colder, just put a cheap fridge in the garage.

There are 2 kinds. The thermoelectric can only cool 20 degrees below the room temp.
The compressor type has the ability to cool down into the mid 30s.
Not debating, just wondering what people have that are commenting.

No! Refuse!
Basement maybe.

Couple of years. No issues, runs quiet, looks great.

Ours is thermoelectric. This one.
Why not? Basement would get old going to and down stairs just to grab a beer.

I do that, but I usually grab a couple on my way in before going up. I have a full basement/garage though, and the stairs to it are in the hall by the kitchen.
As far as the OP, get the nice wine cooler for the area you're talking about, and go pick up a mini fridge for beer. I bought a cheap 4.5 cubic foot Igloo to put in my attic years ago. We had a townhouse with a 3rd level bonus room, and it was a new development so the cable company hadn't run service yet. I watched TV with old school rabbit ears up there, and didn't want to go down two flights of stairs. I paid around $100 for this, it is on wheels, and now lives in the basement of my current house. But it keeps on ticking. My fridge in the kitchen started going out a couple of weeks ago, and I've been glad to have some space in the house to store things. It is cheap, works great, and you will use it way more than you think.

Also, when you decide, order from this place.
Wine Chillers
Compact Fridge
Beverage Centers
I just ordered a Maytag bottom freezer for my house and saved several hundred dollars over buying locally. Free shipping, no tax, etc. A buddy of mine told me about them when he had to buy one when he moved into his new house.
