Someone was telling me about a mom and pop steakhouse on the north side of 190 somewhere around Walker I believe. Does this ring any bells?

There used to be a little place in Walker called Pedigo's, but I wouldn't term it a steak house. It's actually no longer opened.

Not pedigos. It had a name like “the porch” or something I believe. Could have been Livingston.

Down Home Cafe

Only mom & pop place I can think of in this area that serves a steak. Never had a steak there, but everything I've had was great.

Have you been? Donald Ray used to make some killer biscuits that hit the spot when I was in High School. Know he ran the 'snack shack' for a while, but haven't had anything he has made in the last 10 years or so.

I think I ate there in the late 80's, but I can't remember the name. I was thinking Bear Creek or something like that. Had a friend who lived in Denham at the time. My wife and I went to dinner out that way with him and his wife out that way.

How long ago are you talking about? Thibadeaux’s was on the south side of Florida blvd where Freedom Prosthetics is now but it’s been closed for 15 plus years. Templet’s was on the north side of Florida but it’s been closed about 30 years. Pedigo’s was on Burgess avenue just north of Florida blvd and it’s been closed a little while.

I went to his restaurant in Walker several times, but I have not been to the one on the river. He cooks a good steak, and he’s a good guy.

"The Porch" doesn't ring a bell for that area.

Do you believe this restaurant is closed now or still open?

There was a steakhouse in north Denham in the direction of Walker. It was in that area for a decade. Then it moved to the old Captain D's building on Range. That building is now a heavy machinery rental company.

I cannot remember the name of that steakhouse though.

Cafe Lagrange. Was this it?

Even found an old OT thread about it.

It was supposedly open a year ago, when this older gentleman told me about it. He said it was a tiny hole in the wall type place with steaks. I looked it up on the map at the time and it existed, but now I can't seem to find it. All I remember is that it was on the north side of 190 in one of those little towns.

I wish I could help you, but I can't think of or find any info about a hole in the wall steakhouse north of 190 in that area.

I don't know what it could be, baw. Good luck! Please update this if you figure it out because I am curious now.

From looking at pictures, that could be the place.
