I started this thread and didn’t get to watch it til last night… Let me preface this by saying this is the first season if TC I watch.
I was really surprised that airan went home. She did really good at the beginning of the series but had a bad night. Between her and the girl on her team that tried to tie the roasts (leah?) I thought leah should have went home. Arian said she didn’t know what she was doing but she tried and she messed it up. Leah was adamant about how she had tied roasts before lots of times and he equally f’ed up her part… On last nights episode she should have went home I think.
As far as the guy from Hawaii, I think his major problem is that he couldn’t take criticism. Every time they told him something he was always like “no, it was good. I know it was good”… And yes, the girl with the bad haircut sucked.
For others that have watched past seasons, have the chefs been this bad, or are these just trying so hard to make something look good with all kinds of ingredients that they’re forgetting the basics of taste? I mean, I could use a ton of ingredients mixed up together and make it look good and taste like crap. I’m good at making things taste bad…

They usually have two or three consistently good chefs, two or three inconsistently good chefs and a bunch of garbage. This year's crop is about typical.

I thought she was the chef from Jersey? she was horrible at the beginning of the season. She was on the chopping block like 3 times in a row. She didnt get off of it until the Thanksgiving episode in which she cooked the turkey they all liked.
Last season the final 2 were very good. The rest.. ehhh so so with some garbage thrown in.
This season I see Stefan as being the only really quality chef.

Radika (the Indian girl) is good...but she mostly cook indian inspired stuff. She doesn't seem to go outside of her comfort zone much.

true, and personally this is where the show might jump the shark for me. I don't care about love interests, i want to see the cooking.

this season lacks the one or two chefs that are really innovative. There are a 2 or 3 really good chefs this season, but they lack the creativity and fresh flavor combos of some of the past seasons. Tom Colichio seems pretty bummed about this year's crop.

They kicked off the indian chick because she wasn't good with the front of the house? WTF is this? Iron Hostess? Carla's shite MELTED!!! the FOOD she made was crap. Since she was the worst cook on the losing team, she should have gone.
Also, the one that served raw cod can't be too far behind.

when she said "i know it was bad so i sent some love out with it" i almost got up and punched my tv.
and yes, Droopy McDrooperson does the same thing every week: Cook bad food, serve bad food, say "i'm going home, i know it", acts droopy, gets saved... She should let fabio and the fin run the train on her to thank them for saving her...

to be fair, she has done terrible in some of the group settings. Hostess, taking 2 hours to slowly prep her station in another....she seems to melt in pressure packed group tasks, esp if any people skills are involved. yes, the focus of the show is cooking but a big part of the prize is money to open your own restaurant. If you have no ability to do well in a group task, a management type role, or deal with front of the house you have zero hope of running your own successful restaurant.
i have no problem with her going home....as long as Carla and Droopy are the next 2.
