Here is a link to Jay's post about cooking the pork the first time. The bourbon/blackberry combo was the better of the two that he did.

Not what he said in his blog

He actually sounded a bit disappointed in the blackberry one.

On the blackberry one:

quote:

In the end the pork certainly ended up being juicy and tender, I just think it could have used more flavor.

On the other :

quote:

I found the salty and spicy shoulder to be the better of the two.

I am perplexed by you Catman. I really want to hate you but appreciate the honesty and forthright nature in which you have approached your voting disclosure.

Ahhh screw it... you voted for Ole Miss. You must suck.

Actually I voted for LSU first but at the time I thought I saw a smoked duck recipe for Ole Miss.. After voting for LSU I realized it was a smoked duck gumbo in which the duck fat was used for the roux. So I cancelled out my own vote by giving it to Ole Miss. I cant in good faith vote for LSUs recipe again after reading the blog of the guy stating he though it lacked flavor.

I just now need someone to go vote for LSU again to give back that 1 vote lead I had orig had for LSU.

You can vote multiple times if it would help ease your conscience.

For the record, I would vote for chlamydia over Ole Miss.

Anyone ever inject blackberry into pork? Does it affect the color?

I've used raspberries, and it does change the color. Injecting infuses more of the meat with the flavor than marinading. I actually prefer using the marinade technique as the flavor from the berries is more subtle.

We should have done fried chicken or something fried to prove that we are still the fattest state in the country

Bump...

The vote tally as of about a week ago had the LSU recipe in third place behind Auburn and Alabama. Results as of 8/26/10.

So, just a reminder to vote for the LSU recipe! Be sure to click on the video (as often as you want) for the vote(s) to count.

Thanks Tiger fans!

As often as you want.

I think the voting goes until sometime in early November? So yeah... still a long way to go.
