Sailfish Beer Mile

quote:

4 Beers. 1 Mile. Endless Fun. November 6, 2022.

It's bacckkkk! The Sailfish Beer Mile is back and if you haven't raced, walked or danced down the middle of 2nd Street in downtown Fort Pierce with beer stops aplenty, then you haven't experienced the most fun you can have running! It's a one-mile timed race that combines your ability to run or walk with your ability to drink beer (or root beer if you are under 21 or would prefer)

This year's race will take place on Sunday, November 6th, with waves of runners starting at 4:00 PM, and begins and ends right outside the Sailfish Brewing Company location at 130 North 2nd Street in downtown Fort Pierce. You'll get 4 cups-(six-ounce pours) of fine craft beer, along with a souvenir tech shirt and finisher medal and compete for individual, team and overall prizes. This year's race will benefit PACE Center for Girls.

Shirts guaranteed for first 400 participants only! If you don't pick up your bib and tee at packet pickup, or on race day, it is forfeited. We love our runners and want everyone to have fun, but we are volunteers who make this race happen, so please show us the love!

Registration is now $45 online.

I read somewhere (I think it was on Barstool) that there's a baw who can run a 6 minute beer mile. If true, that's peak human performance.

Not enough beer for that distance.

I believe the record is just below 4:30. This a competitive thing and there are some pretty strict rules.

We used to do 6 beers and 1 mile in the Bernie Moore track. One guy went something like 7:30. I was around 20 minutes.

But they have world championships for the beer mile every year and you can find the vids on YouTube. It's crazy how fast those guys can drink and run.

There was a poster on the OT Lounge about 10 years ago that we challenged to chug a 40 oz beer and run a mile while smoking a cig and he did it in like 5 minutes. Filed the whole thing for proof. LSU NYE or some thing was his handle

6 oz pours too, so two regular beers over the mile. Does not seem like it would provide entertainment for those watching or a buzz for those running.

I’d still do it.

I’ve done a race called the Craft Beer Race. Normal 5K but 30-40 craft breweries at the end where you can sample as many of their selections as you want. Really fun

Another was the donut dare. Midway through the race you ate a dozen Krispy Kreme’s then finished. You didn’t have to do the dare. It was in Athens GA and a young guy who weighed about 120 pounds ate the donuts, won the race and his time was something around 16 minutes. Haha!

You're allowed to drink after the race, too...
