First trip to This Is How We Roll for lunch today, and I was pleasantly surprised. We each got the lunch special 3 sushi rolls for $11.95, which included miso soup or salad. The soup was good, the mixed greens were fresh, and the rolls were good. The sushi rice was cooked perfectly and applied sparingly, so you could taste well the components. Simple rolls, but tasty and done right. A great value, or you can bet two rolls (with soup or salad) for $8.95. We will definitely go back and try the noodle stir-fry dishes and the hibachi dishes. All the lunch specials are in the $8 to $11 range, and all include soup and/or salad. I am very fussy about my sushi, so this endorsement means significant quality.

It's been open 3 weeks. I give it 4 stars.

How long have you worked there? Also thanks for giving absolutely no details as to what rolls you enjoyed during your staff lunch.

Apparently not if you are pimping “discount” sushi.

I usually go exclusively to Sushi Yama. I have been eating sushi for 30-plus years, and have had it in NYC, SF, Honolulu, etc.

I know good sushi and sashimi. I'm not pimping for anyone. This is decent, good sushi for lunch at a good price.

Sorry if that bothers you. No good deed goes unpunished.

Nah doesn’t bother me. I just find 3 rolls and salad for $12 getting 4 stars after being open less than a month a bit over exuberant.

But glad you enjoyed it.

Think the last time I was on Bennington was at Rascals.

Just try to give a review like a normal person and not come off as an ambassador for the place. You don't discuss the food. You write your review like you're typing it from the menu. You didn't do anything to make me want to visit the place. I don't hold any ill will toward the owner and his venture, but come on.

The posters here can easily spot the difference. Also the Yelp reviews all look fake and use weird English. "Sashimi is sliced thickly"? Who talks like that? None of the Yelp reviews mention the food in any detail, yet all are 4 and 5 stars?

Sushi Yama is my only go-to in Baton Rouge and I don't see that ever changing.

I thought it was a head shop for weeks until randomly seeing their sushi signs about being open. The logo of the cartoon head even says Mr. Dope, which makes me think a high school kid is running the restaurant. I don’t need slightly veiled marijuana references at my sushi restaurant

Even if the sushi is great, I’ll be surprised if they make it in that location

Picture on Yelp posted by the owner all look really tasty. The guy knows how to photograph his food well.

The typos on the menu make me not want to visit. Little details like that make me wonder what else is slipping through the cracks.

Did that used to be Komado & Golden Dragon? That place was legit. Had the hest hot and sour soup I’d ever had and their lunch was a great deal.

At a sushi restaurant that quickly turns into "that sushi gave me the flying shits and a stay in the hospital"

Typos on menus at Asian restaurants?

NO WAY

The food looks great. If I was in BTR, I'd give them a try.

Every time I go to Umami I have to get the ramen. What do you recommend from their sushi bar to try?
