This is cute - maybe not your cast iron pan, but cute

Here is a German maker of cast iron's skillet offering. Certainly looks lightweight and slick.

Why try to re-invent the wheel? Cast iron and most other cookware has hot spots. The advantage is in the amount of iron that can sustain a heat without fluctuations. That thing might make a good fried egg, but I'll pass.
FWIW, when we make homemade pizza, I load my oven with a lot of my cast iron on the lower rack and crank it up as high as it will go (500F.) It helps maintain the temp as we cycle through pizzas.

I like the machines surfaces. I'd be interested in checking one out if they had decided to leave the mass though. You can machine a few mills off without just completely gutting it.
