Come on man. Do you really think which group of einsteins are back there throwing that slop around that it really matters?

the food when they opened = great
the food now = not so great

Agree. For the first few years it opened it was acceptable, but not good. Now I put it barely above taco bell. I think the whole chain just went to crap.

I'm surprised to see this mentioned.. El Charro is a really good Mexican restaurant..

if you can't get menudo, barbacoa or cactus then it isn't really authentic mexican.
There are easily a half dozen places in BR that serve menudo and barbacoa, and others that sell nopales by the jar.
As I said before, the people complaining just aren't looking for authentic places.

I'm too easy to please when it comes to Mexican since I mainly eat fajitas which are hard to mess up. As long as they keep the cilantro away from my food I am happy.

I am interested in what dishes you order when you go Mexican, because the freakin beans and rice are hard to mess up. So what are you getting that you don't like?
I know lots of people, me included, don't like cilantro which some Mexican places stick in every single dish.
But what is it that you don't like? I am not sure I have ever had bad fajitas at even the worst mexican restaurant. Wait, the fajitas at Taco Cabana suck. Other than that I have never had a bad order.
My favorite however is in Austin. Antonios. After a few margaritas, the food is fantastic. Not sure without the margaritas since that has never happened.

Hey, TigerMyth, if you're ever in Ft. Worth, check out Fiesta. Best I've ever had, hands down. They have the little lady rolling out the masa to make fresh tortillas in the lobby window when you walk in. Awesome place.
Also, I'll have to say that some of the best I've had is what my wife and I cook at home. My three kids like ours better than any sit down place

Pupuseria Divino Corazon
Off of Belle Chasse highway on the Bestbank.
Most Westbank Hispanics will pick this as the best Latin restaurant that side of the river, and we're talking since the days of way back.
