I humbly submit CatFish Hut between DeRidder and Rosepine. Great food and atmosphere. The gummy worms were the bomb when I was a little kid.

Jeanerette - Lejeune's Bakery (french bread)
Houma - Bayou Delight (fried chicken), Best Bakery (sweet rolls)

Thanks for the bump. This really does need to be permanently stuck to the top. I'm in small LA towns all the time and really look for the hidden gems and this thread has been very helpful on multiple occasions.

Heading to Hymels for my birthday tomorrow.

Haven't been there for years, but loved Ma Mama's restaurant in New Roads when I went. Had to stop myself from licking the plate.

You need to try Slayden's BBQ in Bastrop. They've been in business since the 60's and have a secret BBQ sauce.

Here's to Lucille's Red Kettle in Alexandria ... wonderful breakfasts, great "everyday food" lunches.

Lucille and her staff are real people--none of this fake pr bullshite.
