Going by your credentials, it's barbecued beef.

I thought about the question and got back to my coworker that I'd changed my mind to corn.

Maque choux, roasted corn on the cob, grits, cornmeal, heck...it even is used as feed for my beloved pork.

Yep! Corn shows up in many food stuffs. Not to mention animal food to produce beef, pork, lamb, fish, etc. There are oils, and sweeteners too. Also it helps to make some darn fine bourbon.

either a nice cheeseburger... or just the potato. the most versatile food of all time. crinkle fries, shoe string fries, home fries, tots, red potatoes, baked potato, mashed potatoes, waffle house hasbrowns, strawns hashbrowns, au gratin, twice baked, potato skins... I could go on. then add things to these such as cheese fries and garlic herb mashed potatoes and the list gets long.

No one will convince me that the potato isnt God's greatest gift to earth

Tacos. All the different kinds push it to the top for me.

Fried chicken (wings included) and pizza a close tie for second.
