Southside's bread just makes the burger so good...
Their bread is delicious, but their hamburger is terrible.
It tasted more like meatloaf the time I went.

Ground Pat'i (on Johnston),
Not nearly as good as the GP on K. Saloom.
A bun is what helps make a burger and the K. Saloom GP has a better bun.

In Baton Rouge, these are my places to go for a very good burger:
Superior Grill
Mason's Grill
J. Alexander's / Capital City Grill
Another Broken Egg Cafe

Best burger I've had in Lafayette.
Fat Pat's on Verot

Those aren't even the best in Lafayette IMO. Max's has the best burgers in Laf, but Port of Call has the best burger I have ever eaten.

I forgave you for the Southside response, but now you have gone way too far. The Ground Patti on Johnston is wayyyyyyyyyy better than the one on Ambassador Caffrey.

The site I linked says the best burger in Cali is In and Out burger... I have to agree.
if that is true then cali has some horrible burgers. in and out is great for fast food, but it's still just fast food. there are numerous places in louisiana that have way better burgers. hell, there are even local fast food chains here in seattle that i would put up against in and out burger

It's not even close.

I'll have to chip with the Alibi in the Quarter...as good as Port O Call with no wait.

definitely not true.
in and out isn't even the best fast food type burger in Cali. Carl's Jr and Five Guys are just as good or better.
I am very surprised at how many great burger places are out here. I thought it would be awful b/c of the fear of red meat, but i have to say there are more great burger joints here than anywhere i have ever seen.

Not to be smart aleck, but I think the best burgers come off my (and your) charcoal grill. However, for eating establishments, let me change it up a little:
Camelia Grill in New Orleans
Golf course snack shack at Frasch Golf course in Sulphur (also one of the BIGGEST burgers I have attempted to eat.)

In and out listed as the best burger and Cali proved this list blows.

yeah, i don't put too much stock in any national rankings like this, especially if it's for something as common as a burger. There is simply no way they have been to all of the off the beaten path greasy spoons with great burgers.
rankings within one city seem fairly credible. A region, perhaps. Even state level stuff gets iffy unless it's a tiny state with not many good options.
