Slowly uploading photos.

Kartchner's (nice and meaty, not bad)

T-Boys (darkest of the 17 links I sampled, very strong and off-putting flavor)

T-Jim's (the lightest, mildest, blandest link of the bunch. Somewhat disappointing)

Menard's (very tasty link, Top 3)

Best Stop (good - moist and spicy)

Bergeron's (odd aromatic flavor, near the bottom)

Teet's (this link had lots of parsley and other spices, but did not impress)

Janise's (excellent - great flavor, texture, rice - overall the prettiest link of the bunch)

Billy's (saltiest link of the group, a little too much for my taste)

I don't think I've ever been more proud of a random internet person.

tigerham did an all day drinking at the beach in-game thread from Gulf Shores with a ton of pics of beers and women that was pretty awesome. Can't believe he still has a working liver

To the OP, hard to believe T-Boys was so bad. Either a rare bad batch, or your palate is very different from mine. I'm going with the latter.

Boudini is not impressed with that amateur.

I've had T-Boys many times in the past and I've always liked it. It was one of the samples I picked up at the Boudin Cookoff. I'm guessing that perhaps it was not properly refrigerated while sitting out there all morning and had gone bad. When I was waiting in line for Menards, I saw a young man throw a half-eaten boudin sample into the garbage. His mother asked him what it was and he said, "T-Boys. Too strong" and scrunched his nose. I know they really lobby for votes out there, much more than the others, and they usually win "Best Boudin" at the cookoff. It'll be interesting to see how things turn out this year. That's why I prefer to do a blind test.

Anyway, I'm whooped. I'll post the remaining photos, as well as my final results, tomorrow.

Also wanted to add that I purchased pepperjack boudin balls from both Kartchners and Billy's to snack on while I was driving... Kartchner's were superior.

Ok, so -- my overall winner was Janise's. It was the only one that really stood out to me. 2nd place was Nunu's, followed by Menard's. My wife did a separate blind test, and her favorite was Bourque's, which I ranked 4th. She had Janise's ranked 2nd on her list, and also had T-Boys dead last, stating that it tasted foul. I will add that the bread pudding that I got at Bourque's was the best I've had, anywhere.

Here are some more photos...

Poche's (full grain, firm rice. Higher rice ratio than other links, pretty meh)

Bourques (my wife's favorite - meaty and well-seasoned; greasier than other links but still a great link)

Billeauds (one of the better links; finished #6)

Chops (mild and mushy - not good. Wife and I both had it ranked 16th)

Charlie T's (not a bad link, spicy, poor customer service)

I somehow deleted the photos of Earl's and Don's. My tasting notes showed that Earl's had a strange texture, like mashed potatoes, but decent flavor. Dons was heavily seasoned, almost TOO seasoned. Tasted like an overload of their seasoning.

Well done, I have done the Boudin cookoff in Lafayette a few times and did a blind test as well.

My top two were Nunus and Janise as well with a slight edge to Nunu's... But damn they were all good.

Next up: a similar thread, but instead of boudin, doughnuts!

I'm guessing the "strong" flavor you are describing in the T-boys boudin is the liver flavor?? I had some last week and it was incredible as usual but I did notice more liver taste than my usual Nunus.

My top 2 have always been t-boys and nunu's

I like liver - a lot. It's one of my favorite foods. Actually I've always preferred boudin with a high liver content, so I don't think that was it. They had the pre-cut little pieces stored in tin containers, and I'm thinking that they just spoiled somehow. Like I said, I've had T-boys multiple times in the past and it was always good.

Waiting a few hours to eat would be less than ideal for doughnuts.

Haven't been back to Louisiana/had boudin in awhile so this thread has me jonesing real bad.

I've had Ronnie's plenty of times. I'd disagree with your assessment, but hey, to each his own.

Isn't Ronnies the same family that runs Best Stop?

If I stick only to BR, I could hit them all in under 2 hours.
