what is the opinion of El Fenix?

My opinion is it sucks....well...its edible...a lot of old people and people who cling to tradition like it.

authentic mexican ... it's very rarely wrapped in a tortilla

The taco is the one ubiquitous, universal dish of Mexico.

I can't speak for any style from California

Well it wouldn't be Tex Mex in California...

And Tex Mex is what it is. It's comfort food. It's not haute cuisine.

While not wrapped in a tortilla it often is served with them. Worked in New Mexico for a while. I tried authentic Mexican and didn't really like it but it didn't try that many things. I remember trying some dish that was some sort of pork tips covered it cooked green chilles Served with tortillas and I think bean. It wasn't very good to me. Now I have tried upscale Mexican food at the newer Mexican restaurant at Epcot in disney world. That was awesome and before somebody says that isn't authentic every worker from the chef to the janitor must be from Mexico to work there and disney is big on getting their ethnic food experiences right.
