Has anyone else noticed it has gotten considerably maltier over the years? Or is it just me? Maybe I got the batch that someone accidentally spilled the C80 in.

Why? It’s a good beer. I like their Hopsecutioner IPA.

Because we have options now. 10
Years ago, not so much.

If you like the old school malty, and slightly oxidized IPA taste, then good on you.

I like them all. One thing I’ve noticed is how fast beer drinkers have abandoned a good piny west coast IPA for the New England style and the hazier IPA’s. Don’t buy into the options and the trends. A good beer is a good beer.

I still like the 90 minute and 120 minute IPA and Racer 5. People just abandoned these beers for no reason.

I used to really like hopsecutioner. It's nowhere near what it once was.

Still love this beer. Always been nicely balanced IMO and good for sessioning. I don't always need a hop bomb.

Both. Although I haven't had draft in quite some time. I went to the brewery in 2012 and was drinking it prior to that. I usually drank that and New Belgium Ranger.

I love a good west coast IPA. I also like GOOD hazy's (good being the key word, and rarely able to find). But Terrapin is the old guard of the IBU race back in the day. I always considered the west coast style to be lighter in malt character but with assertive bitterness. The East Coast IPA's as i used to dub them, were more malt forward with an assertive bitterness.

All of that being said, they all have a place. Dogfish head 90 minute used to be one of my favs, but my taste buds have changed. When i stopped drinking Terrapin, i remember the few bottles of their rye and hospecutioner tasted malty and oxidized. Now they could have fixed their oxygenation issues, but i wouldn't know.

Not for no reason. 90 and 120 minutes is just too boozy for me, and like i said, i don't want a heavy malt bill in my IPA's. Haven't had racer 5 since they pulled distro in Louisiana many years ago. But, those were the old guard of the hop bitterness arms race. People now, want more hop flavor and aroma, not just the bitterness, and the old guard is more hop bitterness and malt. Little to no accentuation on the hop aroma/flavor.

And for west coast style, some of my favorites are Sierra Nevada Pale Ale, Ballast Point Sculpin (sadly we no longer get that) stuff from Lagunitas, and a few others that have a big grapefruit flavor/punch.

I agree with this, though I will say even the West Coast styles have improved since 90 Minute came onto scene. I drank the heck out of Racer and 90 when I first moved to TX (couldn’t get it back then in LA). Hell, back then I was drinking Karbach Rodeo Clown too.

Then discovered while in New Mexico what a really good West Coast (Rocky Mountain) IPA can be. Since that time, Houston Breweries like St Arnold, Eureka Heights and Spindletap have put out some top tier WC styles, so I just buy those instead of Dogfish Head and Bear Republic.
