Sunday Lunch in Morgan City

Will be in Morgan City on Sunday for a dance competition, so will have a group of about 20 people including about 7 or so kids.
Looking for a decent place to get lunch / brunch. Either in Morgan City itself, or along the way from NOLA. Prefer something local.
Any ideas? Someone suggested to me the golf club at Idlewild, but that seems kind of out of the way.

I would say Rita Mae's Kitchen but they're closed on Sunday. You probably won't have many options in MC on a Sunday so the golf club might be your best bet. They definitely can accommodate your crew.

quote:I second this but last time I went your entire party has to arrive at the same time, they won’t sit half and let you wait for the other half. We had to wait in the lobby for the rest of our party.
Tampico's
East gate bbq
Atchafaya Cafe
Morgan’s

Personally I would say just go to Danny's Fried Chicken that place is underrated imho.

Sneak off to this La Morita Meat Market and get you a Lengua Torta and a few pounds of seasoned fajita meat. My son and I went fishing Sunday and stopped there. That fajita meat is great, seasoned but not peppery. They have a whole menu of hot food but it ain't a place to bring a group of people.

Drive to the one in Bayou Vista.
Appetizers:
Queso and guac are good( I prefer the yellow queso but the white is also good)
Super nachos
FYI the salsa is served hot (temperature not spice)
Adult entrée:
Steak fajita chimi
Fajitas
Burrito Cargado
Chili Relleno
Chicken fajita salad (it’s a big salad)
Kid entrées:
Burrito Alegre
Chicken quesadilla
Mex-Burger
Enchiladas
Anything y’all get will be good though. Their margaritas are pretty good too.

We ended up in Tampico's Morgan City. We tried to call ahead and warn them we had 27 people coming, they did not care. We get there and they were immediately overwhelmed and kinda freaked out.
After about 20 min wait, which included a waitress saying she didn't want to work our tables because "big groups stiff on tips" and her manager telling her they would do auto 18% gratuity, we got seated.
The food was outstanding, and the service, once we actually got seated, was really good. So good that on my group's bill, I tipped her over and above the auto-gratuity.
I got the taco / enchilada plate. Also had a queso app. The salsa tasted like it has it had an italian background, which was interesting. Everyone in our group said how good it was.
None of us had any alcohol. Saw others with drinks that looked good.
Also, driving up to the place reinforced my belief that some of the best places look like an absolute dump on the outside!

I’m glad y’all enjoyed the meal and I fully understand about the appearance. The family that owns that entire property also owns the property that Nicholls State University and the Houma mall were supposed to be built upon and located in MC but they declined because they’re old money and didn’t need the money. I’ve actually got the recipe for the salsa if you’re interested and I’ve got the ingredients for the queso but not their actual recipe so it’s a trial and error type thing

What's the story with the rest of that building? Old businesses that closed up and just nothing new moved in?

Nicholls was supposed to be built in Morgan City? Had no idea.
