Now wait a minute. There is nothing wrong with ladling chili over a bowl of rice so why can't your wife put rice in chili?
I'm from New Iberia and I crumble dorito type chips in the bottom of the bowl before I pour the chili over it. Your wife is way ahead of you.

It should be Frito type corn chips!
