I smile anytime you go on your anti-chain rants given the fact you went to popeyes 15 times over 3 days.
Plus this idea you have that some locally owned restaurant will deal out far superior quality to a chain has no basis in reality. There is just as much chance the local place will suck as there is a chain will suck. Even more so given the whole idea of a chain is that the food worked.
Of course top quality locally owned is going to be better than the best chain, but you seem to think any local restaurant is better than a chain which is nonsense.
Plus you are a hypocrite after you rant about popeyes in which you visited 19 stores trying to find good service and even after you bailed and went to a plate lunch place, you still went back the next week to popeyes.

Chains suck the life out of a food scene.
Danny's Fried Chicken was a chain but awesome chicken in Covington.
Favorite Covington originals:
Badeaux's
Jim's Chicken Town
Nick's Eat
Hearty Burger
Pasquale's (might be a chain)
Tony Pedone's
The lunch counter at Morgan & Lindsey's
Ozone for beer
Tugy's for mixed drinks
Fat Tom's for records. Not edible but the guy was fat.

Here. you're right, but one thing is for sure. Chain food will ALWAYS suck because of what I presented to you. And we will always suck because we are dominated by them. No place ever becomes a place known for high quality food based upon chain restaurants. That's a FACT.
Oh... Btw... Yeah, I am honest, and have regularly stated that I do have a weakness for Popeyes fried chicken at times, but I've also stated that The Chicken Shack, which is one of the few locally owned chicken places in existence here, is far superior to them in every way shape or form. The Popeyes threads were more of an example on the failings of chains if nothing else though. You must have just missed the lesson. Tell you what though. When Chicken Shack opens up a location on my side of town Popeyes can go F themselves. How about that?

I don't either, Fleming's and J Alexander's, both chains, are two of the top 10 restaurants in BR, IMO.

And you're probably right about that.

J Alexander's is really consistent in all facets, and Fleming's has a great steak with an eclectic atmosphere.

J Alexander's has a decent Tai salad, but in the end Paul, they are both steak houses and it's grilling protein. Not that you can't screw that up, because holy cow can some people screw that up around here in just temping properly for goodness sake, and you can certainly fail with steak quality, but still, it's not rocket science. It's grilling red meat.

Chain food restaurants opening up all over St.Tammany. Five guys burgers, another Canes is being built. Texas road house,we already had plenty.
Having Five Guys is nice, and there are other decent chains on Hwy 21 with Izzo's (local?) and Italian Pie. I haven't tried Osaka 21 or the Carretta's next to WOW.
We do have some decent restaurants in this area. Tchoupstix is money, and I heard good things about Louie and the Red Head Lady in Covington.

Good but pricey. I prefer Megumi on Hwy 22. Twins'(I think that's the name) next to the Cafe du Monde on Hwy 22 is pretty good as well.

You should go to Birmingham. Has the northshore beat in this area by a long shot. Shopping center after shopping center filled with chains it's kind of unbelievable

You do realize that sometimes locals own the chain restaurants. It's called franchising. And there is nothing wrong with it. Creates multiple jobs for LA.
You do realize that most of them have their tax base in other states and a lot of tax monies are shipped out of state? And there are a lot of chain restaurants in BR that are not owned by local owners. I'd much rather know I'm supporting a local family, supporting local economy, and supporting local innovation of food.
Those same jobs could've been created with a locally owned and locally tax based restaurant.
I won't not go to a chain restaurant, but if I have any say in the choosing of the restaurant I don't. Too many other good options.

Never tried Megumi, though now they have a Village Walk location, too. Before Tchoupstix, I was loyal to Yujin and would venture to Little Tokyo once in a while.
Haven't tried Twins yet.
