Where on the island are you staying? I liked the restaurant at Secret Harbour resort and there are some good places to eat in Red Hook.

We stayed at SH, the bar there is GREAT. We spent a grand or so at that bar during the week we were there. Red Hook has a great little seafood joint with the dining room on a deck outside. Also a cool bar in Red Hook, albeit not a beach bar like the one at SH.

Was the restaurant finished when you were there? They seem to have just finished it a few months prior to our stay. Wasnt cheap but very fresh local dishes. Very enjoyable. I think I ate at the other place you are speaking of too. Very enjoyable.

Yea bar food was suprisingly good. Really liked Secret Harbour. great value and private beach with great snorkling. Would stay there again if I couldnt get a place on St John.

We just had our tenth anniversary, so no telling what restaurant they at the time. We never ate dinner there since we hung at the bar or in that cove most of the time. We ventured over to St John a couple of times, and into the city once, but most just relaxed and swam/snorkeled right there. The bar tenders hooked us up with info about Red Hook and we went there a couple times for a late lunch happy hour change up.

I don't think my wife went for a 30 minute stretch without an umbrella drink in her hand. They hand those things too, I can' believe they didn't cost more. The pet iguanas were great.

Check out Havana Blue located at the Marriott Morning Star property. My husband and I had two excellent meals (one of which was our rehearsal dinner) during our stay there last October.

I also concur with the Red Hook recommendations.

Make sure you take the ferry over to St. John and enjoy the gorgeous beaches in the National Park over there! If you make it to the other end of St. John, check out the Donkey Diner (home of kick arse food).
