I am going to take some out of towners on the St Charles street car, bar crawl. Where should we stop for cocktails along the way? We will start downtown and work our way to Carrollton and back.

TIA

Mix of upscale & dive-ish. Inside and patio.

Luke/Josephine Estelle
Circle Bar
Avenue Pub/Hot Tin
Delachaise/Columns
Fat Harry's
Cooter Brown's
Oak

Would also consider Marcellos/Herbsaint/City Social stop if Circle bar isn't your thing.

Need to know what kind of atmosphere you want.

I would also add Superior Seafood for happy hour, if it fits during that time frame.

All are seasoned travelers, just as comfortable in local dives as well as higher end. The "out of towners' are early 30's couple, business owners and partiers.

Yeah, that crossed my mind along with Blind Pelican, although that just for the patio.

Good list above, I'd slightly modify and do:

Ace Hotel
Barrel Proof
Avenue Pub
Hot Tin
Portside Lounge
Delachaise
Victorian Lounge
Cooter Browns
Eat at DTB or Carrolton Market

or Boucherie or Brigtsens

If the plan is to be on that end for dinner.

Just a 3 minute walk off the line is Milan Lounge. My favorite bar in the city

Good list. Of course considering how much time you spend drinking, you’d be the first place to come for advice.

The best way to keep him from being offensive is to keep him on defense.

Dive bar trolly run would be a much better list.

My only complaint about Fat Harry's is the beer menu. Pretty much Coors, Bud, Miller, Michelob only. Unless things have changed in the recent year, no craft beers, no IPAs, and no dark stuff......but you can always have mixed drinks.

I wouldn't hold my breath for any decent wines by the glass either, but they might carry something drinkable.

They have craft now. Pretty decent list.

A few FBD'ers polished off a few pitchers of Founders Breakfast Stout when it was released in NOLA.

Wine I don't know about.
