So I was thumbing through some old photos and figured I'd share some of my food pics from the week or so I was there circa February of this year. (for all I remember I may have already posted these here before)

One of my favorite spots that I tried there was a place called Soby's on the recommendation of some coworkers. I'd consider it medium upscale. Not cheap but not high end steak house expensive.

I stopped at a few other places there as well, but none of those were picture worthy. Just run of the mill sushi, ramen, Mexican, fried chicken joints, BBQ and such.

Bone Marrow app

She Crab Soup - it's a regional thing. I tried many while I was in VA and NC. This particular one was by far the best. It looks simple but delicious.

Shrimp and Grits - This tastes better than it looks for sure. Honestly I would have been content with just the grits they were so well seasoned.

Now for the random awkward tale:

I'm taking a long lunch for work by myself and stop off at a place called Stella's Brasserie if I recall. Anyway I decide to go out to lunch by myself that day and I sit down at the bar and order some French Onion Soup. There is a couple or at least what I would think would be a couple at the corner of the bar talking. Anyway the guy leaves and right about the time my soup arrives this girl just shows up and starts talking to me. Really friendly and chatty girl, I'm assuming she had a couple cocktails but probably not too many that early in the day.

So she finds out I'm from out of town and starts recommending some different places to check out over the weekend. Well apparently it was her first time at this eatery and she tells me she is a bit of a French Onion soup aficionado. I'm about half way through the soup and my main dish (croque madam) comes along and I push the soup to the side. She asks me if she can try the soup which I find rather odd. It's one thing to eat after someone, it's yet another thing to eat after a stranger and yet even weirder all together to eat out of a half full bowl of soup from a stranger. Anyway she digs right in and says it's pretty good and I'm just thinking

At any rate that was about the extent of that story, but it was just so odd. She was pretty attractive and I went to one of the places she had recommended later that night hoping maybe I'd meet up with her awkward arse again

But alas she didn't show. It was a pretty cool place though with good live music, great food, and from what I remember some pretty good beers and cocktails (I didn't stick around long)

Run of the mill French Onion Soup:

Croque - which was really tasty

Signage from the place that the girl recommended

I was getting a little too comfortable in one of the old chairs. Not sure why I took this picture other than I thought it was cool they had board games there. Definitely a college aged type joint so I was a little older than most, hence one of the reasons I didn't stick around long

After I bounced out of there I went to my favorite cocktail bar that I discovered on the trip called Crafted. It was above a restaurant called Nosedive as you can sort of see from the signage outside

They had a simple one page craft cocktail menu and I think by the time I left I tried all of them. Then I just started asking the guy to make me random shite off of the menu. One of the best cocktail bars I've been to.

I probably went there on 3 or 4 separate occasions and spent a lot more money than I'd like to think about right now

My last stop of the trip was at Husk for Sunday Brunch

Started with an odd mimosa. Almost looks LSU themed.

Reasonably priced.

I started with some odd squash salad. It was pretty good but difficult to describe.

I got the duck confit dish which was really more of just a skillet hash but I did enjoy it

Coffee was a necessity because I had a pretty decent drive to my next destination. I liked their presentation.

Got some dessert and I have to say it was a bit cluttered and not too memorable.

Yeah I was kicking myself the next day for not asking

But it's been long enough where I don't remember her name. I just remember she was a good looking redhead. Those are tough to come by but they're definitely something to behold

Man.. you picked some good spots but there are some others you have to hit next time. The other Stella’s is the best place in town. The Anchorage on the historic west end is a must as well

I'm trying to think of some others that I hit

Let me check my google timeline (more on that in a minute if you're not familiar with it)

First night I got there I splurged and stayed at the Westin. That night I went to one of the sushi places on the strip called Sushi Marusaki. Stayed there another night and ordered room service at like 11 PM and got the corn chowder.

Next day I went to La Parilla Mexican (meh) and that night I went to Menkoi for Ramen

Following day I went to Tropical Grille and The Lost Cajun

Went back to the Lost Cajun the next night to flirt with the Bartdender and then walked to Ink N Ivy to actually get a cocktail and eat

Next day I went to Saffron India for lunch, no record of dinner

The following day is when I went to Stella and it looks like I actually ate some of the food from nosedive when I was at Crafted. I got a good fried oyster dish.
