Captain D’s opens new Baton Rouge restaurant in Mid City

Captain D’s has opened its new corporate owned store at 5131 Government St., near North Foster Drive, in Mid City.

The 2,800-square-foot restaurant is the second Captain D’s to open in the greater Baton Rouge area in recent weeks and its ninth location in Louisiana. “Greater Baton Rouge continues to be a development market for Captain D’s as it seeks to expand its presence throughout the region,” the Tennessee-based restaurant chain says in a news release.

Captain D’s opened a new restaurant in Zachary earlier this month, and two additional locations are under construction in Denham Springs and Hammond. Both are slated to open this fall.

The Mid City location features the chain’s new beach design.

I live less than 1 minute from a Captain D's here in town. I've eaten it once in the past six years.

That was 6 years ago.

Despite the lack of my patronage, that drive thru is SLAMMED at noon (interfering with my lunchtime commute when it bleeds back out into the street) and around 6:15. Stupid North La folks don't know what good seafood is.

I know a damnyankee that moved to Ruston for school that swore by that place. He got me to try it once and it was absolutely terrible. I wouldn't eat cod or tilapia even at a nice restaurant.

A few years ago I brought him fishing offshore and while down we went to Spahr's and Leeville Seafood Restaurant. I talked to him a couple of weeks ago and he said he still too ruined by good seafood to go back to Captain D's.

Hate to admit, but Capt. D's. is one of my guilty pleasures. But I also love a good Filet O' Fish from McDonalds.
