With turkey day a week away, I’ve got a question for you guys? Smoking a turkey on my Akorn, at what temp do y’all smoke your birds? . I’ve seen sites that call for you to start out at 225, and after 2 hours bump it up to 350. Some say 225 the whole way, what works best for you? Thx in advance!

I keep mine between 275-300 then 325 the last 30 min to hour to crisp up the skin. Lower temps give you that rubbery skin.

You can cook it really hot, all the way up to 500 degrees. The bird can handle it.

I cook at 375. Cooks pretty quickly and has really crisp skin.

I'm with you. I go 275 from start and when I get internal to around 145 I open vents and let it get to 325 or so till done.
