Wierd thread, but I got to agree with about the workers at Burger King.

I always try to make it as easy as possible on the poor kid taking money and making change.

The other day, I stopped to get an order of french fries and a coke... My total was something like $3.29 so I give the guy a 20 dollar bill and 29 cents in change. After ringing it up and opening the register, he said he had to go get some more 1's so it would be a few minutes. At that point I dug in my wallet and realized that I had 3 one dollar bills so I said here I have 3 ones, just give me back my 20. He looks at me, totally serious, and tells me it's too late - he already entered the amount I gave him into the regester. I was so dumbfounded that all I could do was shake my head and wait for my $17.00 change.

School I taught at paid much less than public schools. Which all goes back to the fact that the incentive to teach goes to parents who only want to get free tuition for their kids. Catholic schools might be a safer environment, but the kids honestly aren't getting a better education.

These schools aren't like college. Inject "questionable" concepts into your Catholic school class, and you'll be looking for a new job. As Liberal as I am, I kept my personal beliefs out of class.

I dont know any catholic school teachers that makes more than if they worked for a public school.

Funny how those teachers that do not have a degree provide a much better education that those teachers with degrees in the public schools too. Maybe its because they are there generally because they want to teach the children and everything isnt about them. Most of the teachers at LSU also dont have a PhD either and many of the ones that do cant teach.. There is more to teaching than a sheet of paper that said you were able to learn..

and that's what I would expect from my kids teacher

and with the healing place, comment, i'm DEAD SERIOUS.

we had a conference last year, and everyone had to stand up in front of everyone else and give some info about themselves.

everyone was listing their hobbies/family ect, and what church they went to.

so when it came time for me, I gave my little ditty about who I was, and then said I was a member of HPC.

being christian in business is very profitable.

They don't provide a better education.

In my opinion, which is shared by another TD poster who taught at private schools, private school students don't get a better education. What's different is that you're dealing with kids from a different socioeconomic strata. The parents participate, none of them miss open house or meetings (especially considering what tuition runs). Considering many of the teachers and parents attend the same church (lower tuition for families who attend), there's frequent interaction between the parents and teachers. Teachers are nipping the problem in the bud, and the parents are involved.

If public school parents aren't as involved, or the teachers don't make an effort to correct bad behavior early, it can become a distraction for other students. If someone doesn't want to send their kid to a school filled with impoverished kids who coincidentally don't have much parent involvement, that's certainly their call. I'm personally glad that I went to public school, and if I have kids, I intend to send them there as well.

You sound as if you're contradicting yourself here. Seems to me, if I'm reading you right, all of the factors you mentioned would be MORE conducive to a better learning environment, thus, more conducive to a better education.

Smartest - Chick-Fil-A. Hands down. I think this company goes out of it's way to hire intelligent, courteous, quality individuals. The only time I ever had a problem there was once when they didn't have any coffee made...and then they were extremely apologetic, and gave me a couple of coupons for free biscuits for my inconvenience.

Didnt someone that is all knowing declare that Chick-Fil-A was only run by "Jesus freaks" and also may have violated multiple Federal and State Labor laws?

So you are saying that all Public school teachers are better than private schools teachers...

Your making shite up now..

I know I have gone through both public and catholic schools and my parents didnt push me any harder while in public school than private.. But SOMEHOW when I switched schools in 6th grade to a catholic school I was 1 fricking year behind (Coming from the St Tammany School district which is rated pretty high too)

As bad as that was when I was in public school I was wayyyy ahead of my classmates so I actually had different science books provided to me. Essentially I was one grade ahead in public school and one grade behind when I switched.
