Been craving. Recipes seem really complicated with lots of ingredients. Last one I made had milk, half and half plus heavy cream-made no sense to me for all three. The Test Kitchen one I have on DVR is a low country one and just doesn't look as good as the La. ones I've seen and has a light roux.

So, what's the easiest with fewest recipe you got that is still worth making? Thanks!

Zeas
Ingredients

2 cups chicken broth
2 cups heavy cream
¼ stick butter
1 cup golden corn
1 cup yellow grits ( not instant)
Green onions for garnish
Instructions

To grill corn, shuck off husk. Lightly butter corn cob and grill over charcoal or open fire until slightly blackened.
Cool corn and cut kernels from cob with sharp knife.
Bring chicken broth to a boil. Add heavy cream and return to boil.
Slowly whisk in the grits and then the corn.
Reduce heat to a simmer, cover, and cook 5 to 6 minutes.
Add salt and pepper to taste.
Garnish with thinly sliced green onions.

For an easy quick version.

Use heavy whipping cream or half and half for the grits.

Sautee your shrimp and sausage in a skillet with butter and Chacheres.

I just do the Mr. B's BBQ shrimp recipe and serve it over grits. Rich as hell, but ridiculously easy.

Awesome idea. I am guessing I can pick a few ideas from all these and come up with something I like. Thanks!

I've never gotten complicated with the dairy parts. Always tried to focus on getting the veggie/spice mix right and the shrimp cooked right.

Just keep your grits loose and nail the flavors of the good stuff down.

So Kroger had no heavy cream yesterday. None. I tried this using half and half. Everything was fine except for the too thin half and half in the final part. Will try again-thanks!

I made this one a couple weeks ago. Really, really good. The grits just use chicken broth, which were amazing. The bacon was a nice touch, as well.
