Sensation Salad (oh how I love it) would be a great salad to fix.
ETA- I had no idea that Sensation Salad was invented in BR. I knew it was a Louisiana dish, but didnt know it was so close to home. Nice!

Actually, the type of salad depends on what flavors you use in your shrimp and grits recipe. I don't like to overpower the palate with too much of one thing. I don't care for sensation salad with garlic bread, for example. Too much garlic.
My shrimp and grits are spicy and herby. I make a romaine or spinach salad with pralined pecans, feta or goat cheese and sliced strawberries with a light vinaigrette or Mrs. Talbot's apple vinaigrette, for a side to shrimp and grits. The bit of sweet compliments the spice, in my opinion, and there's a nice balance.
