Shucked Oysters-When to Use?

I was given a half gallon of Wilson's shucked oysters bought at a seafood market yesterday. Just saw that shuck date is June 19. No use by date. Seems too long to me. Tried to call Wilson's but they're closed today. Haven't opened the container. Thoughts?

My first thought is throw them out and get fresh oysters.

Called the seafood market. She said that they were sold in error and they probably forgot to pull them. They don't use them past two weeks and usually freeze them after a week if they don't sell. She will replace them with fresh when they come in next week.

That's a little far out for me but I do freeze oysters. Then make dressing. And Wilsons are the best so just find something else until you can swap.

I don't mind freezing them for various other uses, but I think these are too old to even freeze. She told me to chunk them which I will do. No fried oysters tonight.

They smelled fine and they were huge juicy oysters. Was painful watching them go down the sink.

Don't know. Someone gave them to me. They some beautiful, though. A tear ran down my face. Thankfully I get more this week. They better be as pretty.
