Flying to Vancouver and taking the Amtrak Cascades to Seattle after a trip to Banff in July. Looking for any food/drink/sights recs y'all can offer.
We're staying in an AirBnB in the Yaletown area of Vancouver, but still aren't sure which area of Seattle to stay in. Can do AirBnB, hotel or whatever there...access to decent public transit or easy Uber/Lyft is a priority.
Any restaurants/breweries/cocktail bar recs are appreciated. Got 3 nights in both places.
TIA

Vancouver has several breweries, none were particularly good. Parallel 49 was probably the best we went to, but still meh. No Uber and the city smells like weed no matter where you go. No Uber (as of six months ago) and remember your internet charges are crazy, so look for free wifi.
Yaletown was cool with tons of places to eat. Tried a few, but none were incredible enough to recommend. Some Gelato place by the marina was good, don't remember the name.
If you can, get an AirBnB with A/C, Seattle or Vancouver. It really sucks without it.

Thanks!
Didn't think about the A/C situation, will keep that in mind.

We thought not having AC would be tolerable, we were wrong.
Uber in Seattle is great. Really no need for a rental car. Space Needle seemed to be like the Statue of Liberty ago we slipped it and went to the Columbia Center instead.
If we went back to Seattle I would opt to stay in Pioneer Square area although Downtown Pikes want bad.

We stayed in Ballard while in Seattle. It was with friends, but I'm sure you would be able to find plenty of Airbnbs in that area. Ballard is a really cool area. Plenty of small breweries. Stoups is cool.
For Seattle dining recs, we enjoyed The Walrus and the Carpenter (in Ballard), and Sitka and Spruce (really the entire market that it is located in is badass and it a nice night).
Holy Mountain is probably the best Seattle brewery.

Chuck's Hop Shop is pretty good. They have a decent tap list and nice bottle list, too. No food, but I think they always have food trucks around. They are a little ways north of Pioneer Square/Pikes Street, etc...
Elysian has several places, although I've never been to any of them.

I stayed in the same area of Vancouver. We went to Rodney's oyster house. Split lobster, crab, oysters, mussels and some other things between the table. Everything was incredible.

Had a cajun food truck cooking jambalaya outside. I wanted to eat, but was stuffed from lunch.

I always enjoyed The Keg in Vancouver. There were also some nicer restaurants on Robson St. and a Greek/Lebanese place on Davie that I can't remember the name of. I believe my favorite (Nikko) has closed though. Check out Granville Island while you're there. There are plenty of food vendors around.
It wasn't my cup of tea, but Thai House used to be very popular. There's one in the Kitsilano area across the Hwy 99 bridge from the area you'll be in. I think there's one in North Van too.

Will you please report back after your trip and let us know how it went? I am going next summer to do an Alaskan cruise out of Vancouver. I am considering flying into Seattle to spend a day there and take the Amtrak to Vancouver. Curious if the train ride is worth having to carry luggage around an extra time. The flights into Seattle are cheaper anyway so I am leaning towards doing that.

Seattle - if you want the neighborhood feel stay in Fremont. Fremont brewery is great as well. If more touristy stay near the needle which has a bunch of museums around it.
Took the amtrak from Seattle to Portland. It's a nice scenic ride.

Wife is from Vancouver, I've been there many times.
For the best Indian food you'll ever put in your mouth, try Vij's. Sushi, try Tojo's. Japan Izakaya for other Japanese style foods.

Some cool side trips to think about.
Paulsbo is a Scandinavian town right near Bainbridge Island. Very cool. Great place to walk around and maybe have some fish and chips. Beautiful views.
Port Townsend is on the tip of the Olympic Peninsula. Beautiful town surrounded on 3 sides by water. An Officer and a Gentleman was filmed there. Town is full of art galleries and restaurants.
San Juan Islands. Good place to go whale watching. Friday Harbor is a quaint little fishing village.
Victoria, BC. This town is unbelievably beautiful. Go to Butchart Gardens. Great town for walking around. The capitol of British Columbia, and the government buildings are amazing. Town is built around the harbor, so it is easy to figure out where you are. If I had to choose between a day in Vancouver or a day in Victoria, I would choose Victoria.
